Painting a Public School

Helping Hands will be going to Brooklyn on Saturday, May 20 to help paint a public middle school there. We partner with Publicolor, a nonprofit that runs a youth empowerment program. We'll be paired up with young students to help paint their school. It's a really fun way to spend a Saturday: painting, working with kids, and getting to know some other young professionals in the city. We're meeting at 9 a.m. at the Starbuck's at E 15th St & Union Square East, and taking the subway (L) over together. We'll be done around 3 p.m., but if you need to leave earlier, that's OK. Please sign up if you can make it, and feel free to get other friends or co-workers sign up as well. Make sure to wear old clothes (trust me, you're probably going to get some paint on them) and bring a few bucks to cover lunch for yourself and one student. More about Publicolor: The mission of Publicolor is to engage underserved students in their education and to catalyze change by empowering them and other residents of inner city communities to transform their environments through the power of color and collaboration.
