Pumpkin Picking at Decker Farms

Dear Street Project / Police Athletic League volunteer:

As the new Project Leader for the Street Project / Police Athletic League program, I welcome you to the 2007-2008 program year. After a nice long summer hiatus, the SP/PAL program is revving up its engines and we need you on board.

The kick-off event will take place on October 13th and we are going Pumpkin Picking at Decker Farms, New York City’s last working farm. Here, the youth can experience a taste of farm life in the 1800s, including the chance to dig in the dirt with some farm chores. Participants also get a hayride and a chance to win a pumpkin of their own. If time allows, we will also visit Historic Richmond Town, NYC’s living history village and museum complex.

The group will meet at Police Athletic League – Harlem Center @ 10:00 am. Thanks to a generous sponsorship, we are able to rent a school bus to get to Staten Island and back to the center. The event (including the bus trip) will be from 10:30 – 4:30 pm.

The youth are looking forward to the event and it promises to be a fun event. Do sign up today!!!

P.S. - There are only limited volunteer spots available for this event. I request that you sign up only if you are sure to attend and please be on time.
