Bingo with Seniors
February 24, 2008Free
Join us for a fun filled afternoon of Bingo with the residents of Cabrini! You don’t even need to know how to play. We will teach you. All we need are enthusiastic, friendly, compassionate volunteers.
Most of the residents don’t get any visitor at all. And most are wheel chair bound as well. Most are visually or hearing impaired too. This is an opportunity to provide them the much needed social interaction.
Volunteer responsibility primarily includes assisting the residents in playing bingo. We do require volunteers to bring the residents from their room and take them back as well.
We request all volunteers to bring bingo prizes. You can bring anything reasonable within your budget. It can be a 25 cent comb. It can be a dollar candy. It can be anything else that you think a senior would love. But please do NOT bring any used items. Please bring new items ONLY. Edible items need to have expiry dates! Thanks in advance.
Duration: Between 1:45pm and 4:45pm
Meeting place: 542 East 5th Street
Direction: E or F train to 2nd Avenue
If you have any question, please use the comments when you sign up. Thanks!

University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
