Bingo with seniors!
May 20, 2012Free
Join us for a fun filled afternoon of Bingo with the residents of Cabrini! You do not need to know how to play-we will teach you! All we need are enthusiastic, friendly, compassionate volunteers. Most of the residents are wheelchair bound and do not get any visitors. This is an opportunity to provide them with much needed social interaction. Volunteer responsibility primarily includes assisting the residents in playing bingo. We do require volunteers to bring the residents from their room and take them back as well. We request all volunteers to bring a bingo prize. You can bring anything reasonable within your budget. Suggested prizes include a SMALL snack (for example: chips, pretzels, cookies), a magazine, or crossword puzzle book. If you want to be more generous, you are more than welcome to bring anything else that you think a senior would love. But please do NOT bring any used items. Please bring new items ONLY. Edible items need to have expiry dates. The nursing staff at Cabrini has asked us to please keep in mind if you are bringing an edible prize to make sure it is a single serving. Thank you!
To encourage everyone to sign up online, we will provide you the exact location after you sign up. The location is closer to the intersection of East 5th Street and Avenue B.
F train to 2nd Avenue -Thanks in advance for helping to brighten the day of a senior citizen!
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
