Bingo with Seniors
June 4, 2017Free
Join us for a fun filled afternoon of Bingo with the nursing home residents! You do not need to know how to play-we will teach you! All we need are enthusiastic, friendly, compassionate volunteers. Many of the residents are wheelchair bound and do not get any visitors. This is an opportunity to provide them with much needed social interaction. Volunteer responsibility primarily includes assisting the residents in playing bingo. We do require volunteers to bring the residents to the elevators and take them back as well. We request all volunteers to bring a bingo prize. You can bring anything reasonable within your budget. Suggested prizes include a magazine, or word search book. **PLEASE DO NOT BRING EDIBLE PRIZES**If you want to be more generous, you are more than welcome to bring anything else that you think a senior would love. But please do NOT bring any used items. Please bring new items ONLY. Thank you!
To encourage everyone to sign up online, we will provide you the exact location after you sign up. Closest available trains are located at the Borough Hall/Court Street station or the Bergen Street F in Brooklyn. An informational email will be sent the Friday before the event. This email will include the address.
Thank you in advance for brightening the day of a senior citizen!
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
