Change in Location! Painting a Middle School in Brooklyn
December 17, 2005Free
Helping Hands is headed to a new location – Brooklyn – on Saturday, December 17th, where we will be working with students from IS 296 to help them paint their own school. It will be a good opportunity during the holiday season to work with some great kids.
We’ll be done by 3 p.m. (maybe sooner). We’ll be meeting at 8:45 a.m. at the Au Bon Pain located at the southeast corner of Union Square. (Just look for other people who look like they’re getting ready to go paint at a public school.)
Please bring $5- $10 to cover the costs of lunch, and make sure you wear OLD clothes – they will get dirty.
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
