Helping Hands – J.H.S. 144 Michelangelo with Publicolor
June 3, 2017Free
Please join ‘Street Project’ and ‘Publicolor’ in painting J.H.S. 144 Michelangelo in the Bronx.
Publicolor aims to engage at-risk youth and improve their education by establishing and implementing design-based programs that use the power of color and collaboration to transform and revitalize institutional public spaces.
You will be matched with a teenager and act as mentor for the day. No painting experience required. We will teach everything you need to know. Please wear painting clothes and shoes. We use odor-free latex paint that will wash out of your hair and skin but not out of your clothes. Gloves will also be provided.
The project runs from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM (with an hour for lunch).
Please arrive by 9:15 AM for orientation.

Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
