We are painting the interior of Public School 27 in Brooklyn from 10:30am until 2:30pm on Saturday October 11th.
If you would like to travel as a group, please meet Nathan between 9:30-9:45am at Dunkin Donuts on 6th Avenue between 42nd and 43rd Street in Manhattan. We will depart the Dunkin Donuts at 9:45am.
If you would like to meet us at the school, directions are as follows:
27 Huntington Street, Brooklyn NY 11231.
•Take the Brooklyn bound F or G train to the Smith and 9th street stop
•When you exit turn right and walk along 9th street for three blocks
to Hamilton Ave. (this is a four lane highway)
• When you reach Hamilton Ave – cross over to the other side of the
avenue to 9th street. (You will be walking under the Gowanus

•Make a right on Hicks Street and walk one block to Huntington Street.

The day will be over at 2:30pm. We will be looking out for you.
Be sure to wear paint clothes and shoes. The paint will wash off of
your hair and skin but not out of your clothes. We will provide gloves
There will be a classroom provided for volunteers to store their
belongings. Nevertheless, do not bring anything valuable unless it
fits into your pocket.
Lunch will be served from 12:30 – 1:00. For a $5 contribution
volunteers can take part in the lunch we provide for the students
(sandwiches or pizza).

University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
