Manhattan Middle – Ice Skating at Lasker Rink
December 9, 2017Free
Please join us for a trip to Lasker Rink with the kids from Middle School 326 Writers Today Leaders Tomorrow (aka "Manhattan Middle"). We will meet the students at the school (164th with entrance on Edgecombe Avenue) at 12:00 PM (please be 15 minutes early) for pizza and then travel by subway down to the rink by 12:30. We plan on returning to the school at 3:30 PM to drop the kids off. We ask the volunteers to pay your own admission to the event. Its cash only!
Middle School 326 is at 401 West 164th Street (entrance on Edgecombe Avenue closer to 165th street, facing east). We usually meet in the office to the right when you first walk in. To get to the school: The school is in Washington Heights, the closest subway stop is on the C train: 163rd and Amsterdam. The school is two blocks north and one block east.
Please note: The ice skating rink is CASH ONLY. Volunteers that sign should bring enough money with them to pay back the cost of entry to the event leader ($8.50 for adult admission + $7.50 for skate rental). Locker rental is an additional $3.25 charge + $4 deposit (unless you bring your own lock, and then its free! I’ll have several locks to share so I wouldn’t worry about that.)
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
