Meal Deliveries to Homebound Adults & Seniors
October 25, 2008Free
Volunteers hand-deliver hot/cold, nutritious meals to homebound seniors, who look forward to these much needed meals and personal visits. Volunteers help deliver meals on foot from Encore Senior Center. Like this note says, we deliver on foot and there is no need for a car and there is no need to use the subway. We will NOT carry them but push/pull meals on a hand driven cart! The routes are short; usually no more than 10 to 12 stops. To ensure that walking doesn’t ruin your rest of the Saturday/weekend, please wear comfortable shoes. Date/Time: Saturday, August 23 between 10:00am and 12:30pm Direction: N, R, W to 49th Street 1, C, E to 50th Street 10am Encore Senior Center, 239 West 49th St. between 8th Avenue and Broadway Upon arrival, volunteers will be given a brief orientation before going on deliveries.

We understand plans change. But if you can’t make it to the project, we request you to let us know at the EARLIEST thus helping us open the spot for another volunteer. If you have any question, please use the comments when you sign up. Thanks!
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
