MET Museum of Art and Picnic with Washington Heights Center
May 20, 2006Free
Join us to take the kids from the Harlem Dowling Washington Heights center to the Metropolitan Museum of Art! We’re going to see the travelling pharaoh exhibit and other permanent collections, depending on time. We will pick the kids up at the center at 11 and take the subway to the west side of Central Park. If the weather is nice, we will have a picnic lunch in the park on the way over to the museum. Otherwise, we will get pizza before walking over to the museum on the east side. If you’ve never been to the MET, this is chance to see a NY landmark and if you have, this new exhibit sounds great! Hope you can join us!
Washington Heights center at 175th St and Ft Washington. Take the A express up to 175th – the center is in a building right across from the park with a “Medical Center” sign on the outside. We will meet in front – call my cell if you can’t find us.
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
