Movie! Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them

Please join us for a trip to the movies to see the new HARRY POTTER MOVIE! We will meet the students at Manhattan Middle School 328 (164th with entrance on Edgecombe Avenue) at 10:15 AM (please be on time or 10 minutes early) and travel by subway to the movie theatre. After the movie, we will stop by a fast food chain to get lunch. We plan on returning to the school at 2:00 PM to drop the kids off. We ask the volunteers to pay your own admission to the event which should be around $7 and to bring your own lunch or money to buy.

To get to the school: Manhattan Middle School, 328 401 West 164th Street (entrance on Edgecombe Avenue closer to 165th street, facing east). We usually meet in a classroom on the second floor. To get to the school: The school is in Washington Heights, the closest subway stop is on the C train: 163rd and Amsterdam. The school is two blocks north and one block east.

University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.

Citymeals-on-Wheels provides contact, connection and nourishment to homebound elderly New Yorkers. Volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound and often isolated seniors in this program.

Help beautify and maintain parks, agencies, and nonprofit organizations all over New York City. We currently support projects in Ft Tryon Park in upper Manhattan through partnership with the Friends of Ft Tryon Park organization.

Bingo with Seniors

Cobble Hill Health Center is a long- and short-term care facility providing services to the disabled and elderly. Volunteers provide their elderly residents with much-needed social interaction. Volunteers lead a game of bingo (complete with prizes!) to boost spirits.

Helping Hands

Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
