Painted Pot with Washington Heights Center
March 18, 2006Free
Come join the kids from the Washington Heights Center to paint pottery at Painted Pot in Brooklyn! We’ll pick up the kids from the center at 1:30 and take the subway to Brooklyn. After a late pizza lunch, the kids will be painting from 4 to 5 PM. Volunteers are welcome to either help the kids paint or buy something to paint themselves. The 125th center has really enjoyed this event in the past so we’re excited to try it out – come join us!
175th St Center – take the A train to 175th St. The center is on Ft Washington btwn 174th and 175th, facing the park with a sign on the outside of the building for a “Medical Center”. I will wait outside for volunteers but call my cell if you can’t find it.
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
