Painting a Community Center in Brooklyn
January 14, 2006Free
Helping Hands will be going to the Youth Empowerment Center in Brooklyn to help kids paint their center. It’s a really fun way to spend a Saturday with some awesome kids and other young professionals. The Starbuck’s in Union Square (on the east side of the square, near E 15th street). We’ll meet there at 9 a.m. and take the subway over together.
Please bring $5-10 to cover lunch expenses for yourself and one kid. Also, make sure to wear old clothes that you won’t mind getting paint on (how fun is that?)
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
