Painting a middle school in the Bronx

Helping Hands will be going to a middle school to help kids paint their school. It’s a fun way to spend a Saturday being a role model to great kids from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Nearest Subway stop: D – 174/175 st. Stop
-Get off D at 174-175 stop
-Exit near intersection of Grand Concourse and E. 174th St.
-Go east on E. 174th st. towards Selwyn Ave.
-Turn Right onto Clay Ave.
-Turn left onto Webster Ave
-School is on Webster
Alternate Route (less walking):
-Get off 4 train at 170th st.
-Exit near intersection of E. 170th st. and Jerome Ave.
-Take the Bx11 Bus from W. 17o st. and Jerome Ave. Station heading to Longwood, Bronx
-Get off at Claremont Pky and Webster Ave.
-Go north on Webster until you see the school.
Please bring $10 to cover lunch expenses for yourself and one kid. Also, make sure to wear old clothes that you won’t mind getting paint on!

University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
