Painting New Directions School with Publicolor
June 11, 2016Free
Please join ‘Street Project’ and ‘Publicolor’ in painting New Directions Secondary School in the Bronx. You will be matched with teenagers. You do NOT need to know anything about painting at all. We will teach everything you need to know. This is a golden opportunity for both volunteers and students to share in an unforgettable and unique dialogue that we view as informal mentoring. We will provide lunch. However, in order to help defray the cost of lunch we ask that the volunteers donate $10 per person (please bring cash). Thanks in advance!
Please wear painting clothes and shoes. We use odor-free latex paint that will wash out of your hair and skin but not out of your clothes. We will provide gloves for painting.
Adela will be the project lead for this event!
9:45 am (until 2:45pm with lunch)
240 East 172nd St in the Bronx – Take the 4 train to 170 St or the B or D train to 170 St and walk East to Sheridan Ave (under 10 minute walk from both subway stops)

University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
