Picnic and Games in the Park with Washington Heights Center
June 17, 2006Free
Join the Harlem Dowling Washington Heights center in Central Park for an afternoon of organized games and a picnic! Sponsored by Goldman Sachs, the afternoon will include games with prizes for the kids, sporting equipment for informal games and food for everyone. We will pick up the kids at 12:15 from the center at 175th St and head to an area on the west side of Central Park at 96th Street. Volunteers from the sponsor will be helping run the event and also drop the kids off afterwards. It is limited to 5 StreetProject volunteers so please email me directly if you need to cancel at the last minute.
175th center – Ft Washington and 175th. Take the A train to the 175th St station. The center is across from the park.
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
