Picnic in Central Park with 125th St
June 28, 2008Free
Come spend the afternoon in Central Park with the families from the Preventitive Services program at Harlem Dowling 125th St (Central) center. Unlike our usual monthly events with just the kids this picnic offers us leaders and volunteers a unique chance to meet the full families that are a part of the center, including the kids we usually see at the events. The picnic will be at Great Hill South just east of the 106th entrance on the west side of central park. We’ll have lunch and informal games with the kids and families, plus a few organized games like soccer, whiffle ball, kickball, etc (no skill required! 🙂
We’ll meet at the center at 11AM and end the day by 4 PM. Volunteers will likely be split between 2 groups (1 to pick up at the beginning / clean at the end and 1 to pick up food a the beginning / drop off at the end). Let us know in Registration Comments if you have a preference.
Whether you’re a new Harlem Dowling volunteer or a regular, this is a fantastic chance to get to know the families at the center better and enjoy a day at the park!
Hope you can join us!

University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
