Pottery Painting with Washington Heights center
March 15, 2008Free
Join us in taking the kids from the Harlem Dowling Washington Heights center to go to Painted Pot in Brooklyn to paint pottery! We will meet at the Harlem Dowling center at 175th between 12:30 and 1 (while the kids have pizza) and then leave by 1:30 to go to the Painted Pot in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. This Painted Pot location is closer than the one we’ve been to before and is just a few stops into Brooklyn. We will leave Painted Pot by 4/4:30 and drop the kids off by 5:30.
The kids are excited for this opportunity so we hope you can come! Volunteers are welcome to paint as well but are not required to. The cost to paint will be $12, which is the group rate and includes paint time as well as a choice of 4 pieces. Painted Pot fires the pottery after we leave and Lisa or I will get the finished pottery to the kids and volunteers a few weeks later.
Hope you can come!

Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
