Sailing in New York Harbor
June 21, 2008Free
Join us for a harbor sail aboard the 1885 schooner Pioneer and see New York City from a fresh point of view. Pioneer provides a unique classroom in which students can develop environmental awareness and historical perspective. Students act as crew members by helping to raise the sails and participating in hands-on learning stations.
Meet at 11:00 AM, Return at 4:00 PM
Mott Hall Elementary School – 131st and Convent Ave.
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
