South Street Seaport Ships and Museum
May 2, 2015Free
Please join us for a trip to the South Street Seaport with the kids from Manhattan Middle School. We will meet the students outside Manhattan Middle School 328 (164th with entrance on Edgecombe Avenue) at 10:30 AM (please be 15 minutes early) and travel by subway to the museum. We plan on returning to the school at 3:30 PM to drop the kids off. We ask the volunteers to pay your own admission to the event and to bring your own lunch or money to buy.
To get to the school: The school is in Washington Heights, the closest subway stop is on the C train: 163rd and Amsterdam. The school is two blocks north and one block east- entrance on Edgecombe Avenue facing eas.. A security guard at the front desk will tell you where to go- we usually group together in an empty classroom on the second floor.
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
