Urban Adventures, Manhattan Middle, trip to the Vessel and Madame Tussauds
June 8, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:30 pmFree
Please join us for a trip downtown to see the new Vessel public sculpture and then Madame Tussauds Museum! We will meet the students at Manhattan Middle School 328 (164th with entrance on Edgecombe Avenue) at 10:00am for bagels, then travel by subway to the Vessel. We will then take the train to Madame Tussauds, arriving at noon.
We plan on returning to the school at 2:30 PM to drop the kids off. We ask the volunteers to pay your own admission to the event, which will be $22.
Manhattan Middle School, 328 401 West 164th Street (entrance on Edgecombe Avenue)
We usually meet in the office or the auditorium on the ground floor near the entrance. To get to the school: The school is in Washington Heights, the closest subway stop is on the C train: 163rd and Amsterdam. The school, “Middle School 326 Writers Today Leaders Tomorrow” is two blocks north and one block east. The entrance faces the park and is closer to 165th street than 164th street.
Choose your event by cause:
University Soup Kitchen
University Soup Kitchen is Street Project's longest running volunteer opportunity. Volunteers serve a wholesome, freshly made meal each Saturday in a respectful atmosphere. The kitchen provides a welcoming place of respite for guests and offers vital social services to those in need.
Kids & Teens
Helping Hands provides two opportunities: 1) With Publicolor, volunteers are paired with middle and high school students to repaint and revitalize public school buildings. Or 2) volunteers can support Change for Kids’ mission to invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities.
